Happy Easter 2012

Happy Easter! It was a wonderful Easter this year.  All three of the kids were old enough to enjoy themselves.  We managed to fit in 3 egg hunts.  Josiah could actually tell us Easter was about Jesus (and not just candy).  Big step.

Egg hunt at Aunt Christine's work.
Baskets Easter morning.
Josiah said the Easter bunny hid them a lot better last year.
Cora didn't care.  She was getting sweets for breakfast.

 Luke, the goof ball.

They thought they looked so cute.

Princess for a Day

We had a great girl day with Sophia and Ava.  We went to the Community Life center for Princess for a Day.  It helped raise money for Flashes of Hope.  It's a  super cool organization that does photography for kids with cancer going through chemo.

They did hair, nails, face painting, photo shoot, balloon animals, photo booth, and more!

Before we headed out I asked her what she wanted for girls day lunch.
White Castle.
Yep, she's my girl.

The Big Break

Lillian broke her arm.
I don't think it's made national news yet. Somehow most people aren't even that surprised it's broke.  They are just surprised it hasn't been broken before now.  She's doing well. This morning she was wondering just how strong is her cast... stronger than a rope, stronger than a rock? I left fairly vague answers so she won't fully understand just how much potential strength that cast contains.
Storyline:

Moments before...
Josiah and her jumped off the small playground holding hands.  I heard her cry and she didn't get up.  That was the first clue.  Normally she stands up fast and declares  "That didn't hurt. I'm not hurt." before the tears come.  Second clue, she wouldn't let us get near her arm.  I still wasn't sure since she didn't have a nap that day I thought she was just being a little more sensitive.  I called Grant and by the time he got there I had her loaded in the van and was literally starting to pull out to go to the ER.  Why do emergencies only happen after hours?
Unfortunately she fell asleep while waiting so they let everyone in the ER go before us (even the ones that came in an hour after us).  Even the old cheap azz that had a toothache and didn't want to pay a dentist to look at it. So when Lillian awoke screaming from her pain induced slumber I took her to "look out the window" right by the nurses station.  hmmm... amazing, a room became available.
Poor Grant.  He had to lay down on the cool floor because he was about to pass out from holding Lillian's arm in a painful position for an X-ray.  Why do they ask the dad for help?  Don't they know that moms are the ones that hold it together for birth, barf, blowouts, and broken bones.
After getting her morphine and splint on she was feeling good.

The next day at the ortho doc.  We had to get more X-rays and see the dr.
She really needed to quit doing this.  She fell asleep while waiting for the Dr.  So he thought she must be a peaceful one (we wouldn't be here in the first place if she was) and thought the janky splint would be sufficient.
Until she tore it off one night. Josiah came in the morning and said, "Lillian took the stuffing out of her arm!"  It looked like Sadie had shredded a roll of toilet paper in her room.
I forgot to mention that Lillian is not sleeping at night, not with Tylenol w/ Codine or Benadryl.
It's hard to see but the splint is sticking out about four inches past her fingers.
Back to the Ortho Doc.

We had to go through another round of X-rays. When the Dr. came in she was literally upside down in a chair, feet toward the ceiling.  He took one look at her and said, "What's your favorite color?  You get a cast today."
 Purple it is!

She has to keep it on for 3 weeks.

Semi-Snowy Day

It was been such a mild winter I figured it was worth all the work of getting the kids dressed for outside. I use the a similar rule to driving times.  It it takes 1 hr to get there we stay at least 2.  If it takes 30 minutes to get them dressed for outside then the door is locked from the inside for at least 30 minutes.

These just might be the only snow pictures we get this year!

Crazy Clouds

I don't think most of you know this, but I love the sky.  I love taking pictures of many things, but I LOVE taking pictures of clouds.  I wish I was better at it.  There's just not a lot of books on cloud picture taking to learn from.  So the other night on my way grocery shopping this amazing sky was above me.  I HAD to pull over and snap some pics with my phone.  Then as I kept driving, I kept snapping. Not the safest thing.
To have these photos... totally worth it.

These clouds were breathtaking... They did not swag down from the sky.  Instead they were very smooth lined and almost swirled up.  I have never seen a sky like this. The pictures I did enhance the clarity with my Camera+.  That was it on most of them.  It was hard to see the outline of each swirl without it.

Asperatus Clouds, that's the official name of the clouds.  After looking around for awhile I was able to find pictures that were equal in characteristics.  I found it very interesting that they have proposed to put them in their own classification.  It is still up in the air for the time being though (yes, I make myself laugh).

I think I'm going to join The Cloud Appreciation Club with all the digging I've been doing on these babies.
This one (above) most represents the color and texture of them.

On a similar note.  The sky last night (26th) was beautiful also.  I heard that the planets were aligned.  I'm going to have to look into that also.  If it's clear out tonight.  You might want to take a step outside and check out the moon.

The new Clabber Girl

Cora's busy, but not too mischievous.   The one place she can't stay away from though is my baking cabinet.  I have a safety lock, but after 3 kids it doesn't do a great job anymore.  Maybe I'll replace it after I quit wasting time on the computer today.

It's hard to actually see how big the explosion was.
We've definitely been taking advantage of the warm weather.
I don't think I will ever tire of taking pictures of the kids laying with their daddy.

Have a great day!

Stopping time

Josiah can stop now... stop growing up, stop getting bigger, stop getting smarter.
He is so much fun right now!  My heart melts for him.  He is so sweet & affectionate.  Everyday he tells me something that makes me want to stop time.
"Mommy, I don't want to be 5 so that you will still be able to hold me."
"Mommy, I'm so glad you are home.  I missed you so much."
"Mommy, I don't want to be 95 so that you'll still be my mommy."
"Mommy, I love you"
