Racing through May

31 years I've lived in Indy and 0 times I've been to the track.

I was excited when John and Alma planned a day there when they were up in May.
It was military day so we lucked out and went in free.  Then the kids were able to enjoy some of the military activities that were set up.  The day was absolutely beautiful and the crowds were nil.

Lillian was into it.  I wish I had a picture where she was lying prone with a huge machine gun! Everyone around thought it was cute/funny how serious she was about it.

Kids chilling with Grandpa and Grandma while waiting for the cars to start.
Sheer excitement on Josiah's face as the car raced around.
They were running one car at a time since it was second day of qualifications.

Too bad we don't have a picture of myself.  I LOVED it and hope to go one day when I can see 33 cars at a time.  I'm glad to finally have perspective on the track size, the speed, and the SOUND.
Riding in an Indy car has been on my to-do list (along with hang-gliding, seeing the aurora borealis and going to space), but I think this one is going to have to be done sooner than later!

Enjoying a yummy snack!

This was a great break from all the packing and house work I had been doing like a crazy woman.
We've had quite a few showings, but no offers.  Praying and trusting that God will bring the right person along... soon.

Do you know the ice cream man...

My kids just met him for the first time.

My kids never knew what the yellow topped, Muffin Man blaring, slow driving van was until this year.
It was quite nice never having to look for money to give the little brats, but my precious neighbor girls had to tell these kids what this magical mystery bus is all about.

As reluctant as I was...

... it made my mommy heart so happy.

Who doesn't love reliving their happy childhood memories with their own children!

truth be told:  I was horribly sick that day, tried not to pass out while I found money or paid the creepy guy,  and then had to lay down in the grass while they ate the drippy messes outside. Only for me to wake look up after a moment... to see Cora somewhere she shouldn't have been.
Oh, the joys of motherhood!

*I'm behind because we are making some life changes.  I hope to sit down and get some updates on here soon.

1st Soccer game

This was the year... Josiah asked to play an organized sport.  I knew the day would come, and I was definitely not in a hurry.

However, It is super cute to see him so excited and energetic.  I was super proud of my little man.
He made 3 goals in his first game... no goalies in this league ;)
He tried hard, "hustled"( I never liked hearing that word in softball), and he was fairly aggressive (another word I didn't like).

taking time to wave to mom
I don't know what this is about because I know zero about soccer.

It was freezing the first game.

I am obviously a rookie mom.
I don't own a fold out chair, ear muffs, or know how to layer blankets so that the chair becomes some sort of wind blocking, heat generating igloo.

Nope, instead I'm standing, more like hopping in place hoping to generate heat, with an extra coat wrapped around my head to keep the wind out of my ears.

Oh well, someday I'll be comfortably hunkered down in my own igloo and look across the field at the coat wrapped kangaroo and think... Rookie.

Milk googles

Mom put these in the kid's Easter basket... brilliant.

We had so much fun them!

Happy Easter 2013.2

The kids had an awesome time at Weewa's where they colored eggs and played with the cousins.

Well you know... Lillian... just needed a minute to... pray?
I looked over and she was just sitting there having a moment.
What can I say.
Weewa picked out balloons for the kids.
Lillian told W to get the one with a bandaid for her.
I didn't grow up doing the plastic eggs with goodies in them.  We colored eggs, the adults would hide our eggs out in the yard while we were locked in the house, then we'd enjoy eating them after they were found.  I'm glad my mom is still keeping the coloring of the eggs tradition going!

Jo was so over having his picture taken.

 Proud!

We made it over to Christine's for a short visit.
The kids were so excited for their basket there!

I think this might have been the first chocolate of the day.
Their chocolate bunnies are still on top of the fridge... oops.

I LOVE this photo!

The kids were d-o-n-e.

However, Lillian had one last perfect pose to pull out.

Happy Easter 2013.1

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter.  I know that we sure did!
We had a wonderful church service, yummy dinner and egg hunt at G. Star's, baskets with the Forcums, naps, and then colored eggs at Weewa's with June Bug's cooking. whew... and that was a tame holiday.

Baskets!

This Easter they were the only ones in the egg hunt. So they each banked around $20!

Stay tuned for Easter 2013.2
